It isn't even Ling's plan, and given a choice he'd have nothing to do with it. Zhang Ling is just the only member of his gang of petty thieves and con men who is the right age to pull it off.
And if he can pull it off, according to their contacts, the pay off will be massive. The reward money promised by this gongzi's uncle is unimaginable.
But this part of the plan - this part sucks. This being the part where Ling stumbles out into an area he knows is rife with evil spirits, armed only his bow, with the deliberate intention of getting himself into trouble in the spurious hope that cultivators will rescue him, notice the bell that he's tied to his belt, and believe that he's the lost Jin heir.
It's a stupid stupid plan, and he hates it.
